You pushed yourself hard and didn't give up. Well, don't stop now! What you put in your body matters. Strength Sensei tells you what's what and gets a little nerdy in the explanation. No worries, he still keeps it simple.
I just turn 40 recently and noticed my energy level has gone down, joint and muscle soreness is becoming a norm for me. I mentioned this to a friend and he told me to Google Systemic Enzyme Therapy. So, off I went to read about what enzymes can do for me and how to go about using Oral Enzymes.
A German physician by the name of William Friedrich was the first to use the term "enzyme" and has been used since to refer to all biocatalyst. Enzymes are organic protein molecules that help to break down food and convert it into smaller absorbable nutrients. When I looked up enzyme I found a long list of health benefits but what interested me was its ability to act as an anti-inflammatory, dissolve scar tissue and working as a detoxifier. I use the roller, stretching, ice & massage to deal with these things but I would like all the help I can get in this area. There are some natural ways of getting enzymes, raw food or juicing . But, I'm on the go a lot and wanted something I can carry with me all the time. Systemic enzyme therapy fit my needs.
Systemic Enzymes are enzymes taken orally for a whole body effect. You can go on line and get them or find them at Wholefoods or supplement store. You can get them in capsule or tablet form, but tablet form is what you want. Reason is you don't want it breaking down in the stomach where the enzyme is dissolved before it can get to your intestine. So, when looking for a deal, double check that its in tablet form. I use W-Zymes Xtra Recovery Zymes, I have been happy with them and when you look on line they have gotten a good rating. The bottle will say to use 2-3 tablets between meals 30 minutes before meal or 2 hours after meal. Drink plenty of fluids to wash it down( 8 ounces). First week was a little hard on the bowels. You may want to start with 1 tablet and work your way up. I found my body will not tolerate more than 2 tablets between meals.
So, that's it in a nutshell! My intent in sharing this information is to spark an interest in other ways of improving your health. Do your research before deciding what you want to put in your body. Like I said there was a lot of information out there. I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist just an athlete sharing what I do to improve my own health.
